About the List

bulletIncluded above are the 95 bands that had at least 3 countdown entries, along with the first and last years that the band had an entry in a list..  I set a higher cutoff (5) for KROQ and 91X, but because I only have 8 years of lists there weren't a lot of bands with 5 or more so I lowered the threshold.  The list is sorted by the number of entries and then the first year the band had an entry.
bulletI was surprised to see the Foo Fighters top the list.  Dave Grohl sort of reminds me of Paul McCartney--tremendous success and lots of hits after leaving a great band, but nobody mixes the Wings with the Beatles and the Foo Fighters don't quite match the legacy of Nirvana either.  I expect in a couple of years we'll hear a lame urban legend joke that kids of the 00s are shocked to hear that Dave Grohl was in a band before the Foo Fighters.
